The intent of the Aspire program is to create a Meaningful Place to develop social, sustainable and educational activities each Friday and at other advertised times. Key activities include developing new programs that provide the impetus for sustainable, educational, social, and community building programs for individuals and businesses.
Key partner Paynesville Neighbourhood Centre (PNC) won the 2017 Victorian Learn Local Creating Excellence in Local Solutions Award. They will use their expertise to develop new innovative community programs including Introduction to Barista, Retail, Furniture Restoration and Sustainable Living. Businesses will be encouraged to donate goods and to employ community participants.
Establishing new innovative social, educational and sustainable programs during the down-time at the Aspire Precinct will create economic, employment and environmental benefits. Using the approach “It takes a village to raise a child”, community members will be encouraged to enrol in free activities such as upscaling and recycling wooden items including pallet furniture making, introduction to barista, retail, hospitality, jewelry, sewing and online sales. There will also be free support with resume writing, job search and establishing a career portfolio.
This project enables individuals, community and businesses to work together to address social, economic and educational impact. See: https://www.facebook.com/PaynesvilleNeighbourhoodCentre/photos/a.726394994049743.1073741828.719306718091904/1864655693556995/?type=3
