This project will create an online social hub, Buddy Link. It will use latest voice recognition technology to connect individuals through networked devices like Google Home. Buddy, a virtual assistant, will help get information from the internet, dictate emails and messages and setup reminders and alarms. It will build connections in the local community, matching like-minded people by interests or needs, inviting them to join a chat or a club. Individual users can receive local news from community organisations and local governments. The system will be maintained by a not-for-profit organisation and will be free for the public.
There are people in the community who are socially isolated due to limited mobility, loss of friends and family, or language difficulties. Also, there are older residents with limited computer skills. Buddy Link is an automated intelligent online system that helps overcome these challenges through multilingual speech recognition and the local database. The system connects individuals with similar interests, service providers with service seekers, and acts as home safety device. The system is easy to scale up and expand to other areas. The project is managed by a local charity with expertise in aged care, mental health and software development.

This is great! I think it is as exciting as Knight Rider car too elderly and special need persons. The idea, the technology and the mental health benefit expected is huge. I think success of this project will put Victoria on world map one again for a special cause. This one is my pick.
