Brimbank Stories Podcast

Brimbank is a vibrant, diverse, and hard-working community. The Brimbank Stories podcast will share the inspirational stories of community members who have overcome challenges to create a better future.

The podcast will be available globally through iTunes, Soundcloud, and on the web. It will inspire locals, provide economic development opportunities, and promote the region.

Our council area scores low on socio-economic indicators (ABS), and has the lowest score in the state for resilience (VicHealth) - but we also have a lot of residents achieving amazing things on a global stage.

Research by sociologists Rosenthal and Jacobson (1992) shows that expectations of success can become a self-fulfilling prophecy - higher expectations lead to higher achievement, and vice-versa.

By sharing some of the many success stories in our area, we will inspire local residents (particularly youth) and show them that anything is possible. This will have long-term benefits for our community and also support economic development and community resilience and pride.
