Brilliant Spectrum Boot Camp

Struggling at school, 6 times higher unemployment rate and spiralling mental health issues are the reality for individuals living with autism. Brilliant Spectrum Boot Camp, a skill-building program based on a social event concept, wants to create a different future.

The Boot Camp will train 24 teenagers and adults with autism to host 24 social events over 12 months in Bayswater. This program will also provide a forum for the autism community to practise social skills such as greeting people and ordering a meal. 1680 guests are expected to attend the social events, demonstrating a real need in the area.

Brilliant Spectrum Boot Camp engages individuals with autism and will deliver 2 specific outcomes.

Firstly, guided by an occupational therapist, the Boot Camp will provide 12 teenagers and 12 adults with autism real-life training opportunities based on employable skill sets. These trainees will serve as positive role models for others in the autism community who often struggle to be accepted socially or afforded leadership opportunities.

Secondly, the Boot Camp will provide the autism community with a monthly forum where individuals can improve their social skills in a safe environment while being connected to support services if required.
