Using an outreach model, the project will support South Sudanese young people (12-25 years) in South East Melbourne disengaged from school or employment and at-risk of alcohol and other drugs (AOD) misuse. Using a holistic, culturally aware, strengths based approach, this project will connect with support services and support re-engagement in education, training or employment.

- Host day trips with South Sudanese Australian young people for personal and social development.
- Host community events to celebrate graduating school, TAFE and University in 2019.
- Connect young people and families to services, training and employment.
- AOD information sessions.

Promoting positive stories of the graduates' celebration will encourage young people to make healthier choices and thrive in this community.

The community leaders know that disengaged students are more likely to turn to AOD and this project will help prevent anti-social behaviour and connect young people with services and training.

This cohort is among the most disadvantaged and vulnerable community groups in Australia and this project will bridge the gap between access to service providers and the community.

Creative outlets on day trips will reduce trauma and enhance wellbeing and positive engagement and improved community outcomes.
