WHY: Empowering our young children is critical to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and sexual abuse that is disproportionately prevalent within our local community

WHAT: Body Safety Education based in schools teaches children to take charge of their own personal safety and reduces their vulnerability to abuse

WHO: Latrobe City Council Primary School students, teachers, parents and community members

HOW: Students in Prep to Grade 3 - KidsROAR School Incursion - 60min session per grade
Teachers - Professional Development sessions
Parents and Community - Information sessions

WHEN: September 2018 – August 2019

Latrobe child protection investigations and substantiations are amongst the highest in the state.

Protecting children from harm is a responsibility shared by parents, teachers and the wider community.

The KidsROAR program teaches children that ‘We all have the right to feel safe at all times’ and ‘We can talk to someone about anything, no matter what it is’, which can then be reinforced through educating parents, teachers and the wider community.

A Body Safety Education program delivered by fully trained, experienced educators to our children will be invaluable in equipping them to be better protected and safer.
