Kids love to ride. It’s fun and really exciting for them. It gives them freedom and builds their confidence. It also gets them outdoors into the fresh air and gets them active. The project is a fun and exciting bike park, free for everyone, with twists and turns to help kids of all abilities learn safe riding skills, including wide paths and challenges like hills, curves and bridges, tunnels, as well as new trees and shrubs around the track.
In Australia 1 in 3 kids don't know how to ride a bike and 9 out of 10 kids don't get enough physical activity. Getting on bikes increases physical activity and helps reduce health issues like diabetes & decreases traffic and pollution. Currently, there are no cycling facilities of this type in the west of Melbourne and this provides a barrier to large sections of the community from learning to ride and getting on their bikes. This can change with additional development of Hansen Reserve with a kids bike park so it can become a cycle hub for the west

Local cycling coach for adults...I'd use this facility in a flash. It would provide a safe place to develop bike skills for both adults and children.

The west is growing and so should the bike facilities.
Sunshine (and Fottscray) are going to be NEIC (National Employmet and Innovation Clusters) and the population are going to be growing and will need a wide range of facilities. Bulid it and they will come......and releive some of the ressure on the road network into the future!
