A silent disco will occur at three different locations in Geelong at the same time using the same songs at each site to promote community inclusion, and belonging. It will be live streamed at each site and will encourage community connection. Communities That Care will promote health messages and provide a festival type atmosphere with food and fun to be had by all while enjoying a shared experience with the whole of community.

The need to belong, be connected and engaged in group activities are intrinsic to mental health and wellbeing. Engaging in an activity that is inclusive of the whole of community is a fantastic opportunity to build connectedness and belonging to community members. Participation in social activities such as those run by community groups enhance social connection. A silent disco will benefit the community as age is no barrier - participants are being social – they are listening to the same music at the same time, watching each other and experiencing communal joy.

What a brilliant idea!
Was recently involved in a silent disco and love love loved it. Engagement with total strangers using body movement as well as having massive amounts of fun and laughter. Dancing to the rhythm of your “own” beat. Isn’t that what life is all about
