This project will deliver the construction of an ‘all abilities’ track through a section of the Ocean Grove Nature Reserve. Approximately 3km long, the track will wind through varied and interesting landscapes, and will be constructed with materials that blend with the natural surrounds. Existing track conditions are narrow, slippery and uneven, which limits or excludes many community members from walking on them. The new track will provide an accessible pathway for all community members, no matter what their ability, thus providing opportunities to discover and enjoy the wonderful plants and wildlife in the reserve.

Spending time in nature has many proven benefits. Fresh air, open space, the sights and sounds of nature, all can have a positive influence on our physical and mental health and wellbeing.
The Ocean Grove Nature Reserve is a valuable natural asset in a growing and increasingly urbanised township and this project allows access for people with limited mobility to visit and explore. Families with prams; those using wheelchairs or mobility aids; people with restricted vision, injuries, illnesses or disabilities will all be able to experience the pleasure and benefits of visiting this special bushland.

The track would allow more people to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of the Nature Reserve and the wildlife that can be found there.

A beautiful area that should be accessible for all!
Enables health and well-being, socialization and education about the area we live in
Will fit in nicely with other accessible projects happening on Surfcoast.
Bellarine and Surfcoast will hopefully be places where all people no matter their abilities can enjoy.
Being in nature is so important for our health and wellbeing!
So excited about this this proposal.

Good project. Enjoying nature helps the mind and soul. The Bellarine Rail Trail also offers similar benefits.

Nature reserves are an essential part the environment. There is much housing development in the local area and the importance of accessible reserves, parks will become more necessary and more advantageous to the well being of the increasing population.

Building this trail will give so many of the increasing number of residents to the area, of all abilities, to further enjoy this lovely nature reserve, and preserve its precious environment also!

As a member of a seniors walking group, we would use this area much more often if this reserve was easier for all of us to move around without the fear of falling or tripping over.

This is a very nice little nature reserve, and it would be great if more people had access to it.

Such a beautiful untapped resource right in front of us yet few have explored. A proper access pathway would open the Reserve up to so many more residents and tourists alike.

The track will include several (6-7) rest areas (seating) to allow all to take a break. Any planting will be native and accommodate all community members
