Behind the Lens

Picture yourself learning the fine art of filmmaking by a well-known filmmaker! Young people aged 12 – 25 years will have an opportunity to participate in a free 6 week filmmaking workshop learning the foundations of contemporary practices of shooting with digital technology. The workshop will be hands-on where participants will be writing, directing, shooting, casting and editing. Cinematography and production cover the creative and technical demands of story-telling with moving images. The facilitator, Ez Eldin Deng has accomplished an abundance of industry experience in film production, documentaries, live theatre and is a Youth Support Worker within the Brimbank community.

Young people will have an opportunity to engage in a creative, fun, interactive workshop that will allow them to gain valuable skills in filmmaking and develop skills that will set them up for potential work in the industry or to further pursue accredited education in the field. These workshops will benefit the local community by offering a viable solution to the reduction of crime and anti-social behaviours in young people by providing a positive, non-judgemental environment where they are given an opportunity to upskill in a growing and creative industry whilst gaining soft skills in teamwork, collaboration and independence.
