Building a new apiary by placement of 15 hives in a suitable location at the GWS Anderson Scout Park. The project will require classroom facilities, fencing to protect the bees, a suitable cleared area for the hives to sit on, with sufficient area for safe access by the public and bee-keepers within the apiary. Suitable signage and lockable access gates will be required. Pedestrian pathways will need to be constructed and a suitable viewing area for visitors. A separate honey extraction room is needed, plus a honey tasting area, outdoor furniture for casual relaxation and snack facilities.
Building a new apiary will allow scouts, students and the public access to an environmentally sustainable safe place to learn about the plight of bees, inspect the internal workings of a hive and enjoy honey tasting, engaging in honey extraction and hive maintenance. Dress in bee suits and enter the apiary as an assistant bee-keeper. Allowing for the growth of numerous colonies will protect these marvellous creatures that are responsible for 70% of the food we eat. Without Bees, humanity would only live for four years. Every third mouthful you eat is the results of bees.

A fabulous project that deserves your support. Bees are in trouble world wide. We can do our bit to help save them and in the process save our food sources. 60 000 bees in a hive we need 1 vote for each of them
Awesome project. We need to look after the small things that are so important to our environment. With all the land clearing especially in se corridor, these things need to be encouraged.
I did the course in January and found it fabulous - very informative, interesting and educational and encouraged me to keep bees myself. It would be great to have more facilities and equipment so more people could attend, get involved and learn about the importance of bees!
Great Project ..... To many bees are taken for granted. More awareness is paramount....
Great work GWS Anderson scout park. Would love to bring our scouts up some day. Keep up the good work.
Hi Dez, Bring them up for a look into a hive. Give Rob or Sam a call
Love the Bees. Love the Honey. Keep up the great work at GWS Anderson.
Good initiative. Incubating the knowledge at Scouts age-group is perfect as they will learn, spread the word to friends, and act for positive change.
Thanks for driving this!
Great program! It has taught be so much about bees!
We need to save them!
Thank you so much!
1st Casey scouts from Akoonah park came earlier in 2018 to learn about bees and it was fascinating. We had 20 kids who enjoyed it thoroughly and I have never seen so many questions asked at any of the activities we have ever done. The bee suits were a hit as well. A wealth of knowledge great for school groups, scouts and groups of people of any age
A fantastic idea as most of us around the area have room for bees but not the knowledge. We need our bees to feed us and our families so bring it on!!!
Bees are very important to our lives i think this is a great project
These guys are doing a great job and their plans will benefit us all.
Lets help them save the bees.
A very important issue. Best wishes with the project. I am very interested in learning more about bees and their impact, how we can protect and nurture them and what a world without bees would look like. Could we survive?
It is reported that Einstein said 'if all the bees died tomorrow, human kind would only live 4 years'
Scary thought!!
A fantastic project to help educate scouts and community groups about the plight of bees and the future of out food supply as we know it
An educational awareness project, environment based is a fantastic initiative for this area. Look forward to seeing this project progress.
