Everyone should be able to visit the beach. I hope these wheelchairs become available at all beaches. Would also like to see this accompanied by the beach matting for easy access to the water :)

The project will provide a Publicly Accessible Beach Wheelchair and storage for safety equipment for use by people with disabilities at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary. The project will also provide onsite storage to facilitate easier access to the Beach Wheelchair. To achieve this the existing blue stone toilet block will need to be redesigning to ensure the Beach Wheelchair is safely stored. Alterations required include, but are not limited to, relocating electrical services and HW service, widening the access door and providing door security.
Note these alterations will not change the character of the blue stone building.
This project will enable people living with a disability to more frequently and easily access the beach at Ricketts Point. Easy access to the Beach Chair will ensure people with a disability have more opportunities to enjoy a day at the beach by creating access to the sand, and water for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving.
People living with a disability gain much pleasure and enjoyment in the water where they are free from the limitations caused by their disability on land.
Being able to enjoy the beach with their family and friends will foster inclusion and encourage physical activity.
