Basketball court for Birregurra kids

The old, cracked and lumpy bitumen court at the Birregurra Primary School would be levelled and refurbished with a modern coloured sports surface and new dual purpose basketball/netball rings would be installed. This would renovate a valuable all-weather play space used daily at the Birregurra Primary School. As this is the only basketball court in Birregurra, it would also provide a training venue after school for local children of all ages who play basketball. Sporting teams provide a vital social network for children in Birregurra and access to local facilities is especially important in our rural community.

Situated 19 km from the nearest major town of Colac, Birregurra values its community resources and activities. The sports facilities at the Birregurra Primary School are timeworn and do not match the spirit and enthusiasm of the school and local community. The upgrade of the rundown school basketball court would add to the local sporting infrastructure giving Birregurra children a basketball court to train on and provide a modern facility to be proud of in the grounds of the school.
