All members of the community accessing the Barnawartha Recreation Reserve will have free access to the playground, promoting play, social interaction, imagination, community connection and sensory engagement, which in turn promotes physical and mental well-being. The playground will be placed in a central location, providing safe activities for all children accessing the reserve, in an easily supervised space.

Shade sails will be installed over the playground to provide protection from the sun and safety. Sails will also be installed along the oval side of the Recreation Building for sun protection, shade and increased usability.

Barnawartha’s 0-19 year olds make up 30 percent of the town’s population. The Reserve is used by over 10 community groups on a daily basis throughout the year. Over 300 children attend Auskick and NetSetGO games, and children of all ages attend with parents and families for Football/Netball/Tennis/Cricket training sessions and games. A safe, easily accessible playground will encourage families to be active, engage with the community and promote social, physical and mental well-being. The facilities will be available for anyone accessing the Reserve and Indigo Medical Centre and will be a positive addition to the broader Barnawartha community.

I think a playground is needed BUT not in the location chosen. As it is during football/netball days there have been alot of "close calls" with cars reversing /speeding and kids nearly being hit.. So maybe another location around the oval is needed..

Barnawartha is a connected little community with the potential to support every young person to grow in a healthy environment. Families utilise the recreation area on many levels and since the upgraded clubrooms and medical centre was built, the playground was removed and not replaced. It is sadly missed. Children should be playing actively whilst at this facility and this project will encourage that. All for healthy kids and family time.

This would be fantastic for the many families visiting the reserve for games/sport or for medical appointments as the children currently have nowhere to play and get very bored waiting for their parents to compete. Children should be playing instead of watching phones or tablets but currently their aren't many other options to entertain them, this is a must for our community which holds a strong sporting presence!

A playground would be a valuable for the existing users of the fields and for local families. Please support this proposal.
