To establish Ballet Moves for Seniors Program that has been successfully modelled in Queensland. This project will bring the Queensland Ballet's program, Ballet Moves for Adult Creative Health to the northern suburbs of Melbourne. It will be launched with a gala workshop and a large-scale Ballet for Seniors Family Day. This would then be supported with weekly Ballet Classes for 12 months held free of charge for Seniors to establish viable interest and commitment to ballet as an enjoyable way to enhance their wellbeing.
This project has been inspired and has the support of the Queensland Ballet's "Ballet Moves for Adult Creative Health". Evidence points to improved physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing for seniors as a result of their participation. Outcomes include higher energy levels, greater flexibility, improved posture, enhanced sense of achievement, participants also felt happier and enjoyed a sense of community and friendship.
Banyule is a World Health Organisation Age-friendly City. Research has shown that building social connections, remaining independently mobile and staying in the local area continue to be high priority. This project will help make this happen.

I believe this program would be of benefit to many people in our community. It has the capacity to improve physical health and flexiability concomitant with a social opportunity.
