Ballarat Parkour Park

Upgrades to a local recreational area incorporating a new parkour park to the current skate park facilities, to create a safe functional space for community engagement, particularly for young people to utilise for parkour and other activities.
The aim is to create a muti-functional facility that engages a variety of community members, with the specific intentions of providing a safe and suitable place for local parkour and free running groups and other individuals to access for the development of physical skills and abilities. Safety features such as rubber flooring and textured surfaces will be a key focus of the project.

Physical development and play are the building blocks of emotional and intellectual development. With a safe and suitable place for young people to develop these skills within the community, they will have a greater opportunity to succeed in educational and life outcomes.
This park will fill an identified need for a specific facility, fit for purpose, as other playsets in the Ballarat locality have been identified by the local Parkour community as unsafe for parkour training. By working with the parkour community to design and create a facility that is safe and functional, this project will benefit Greater Ballarat greatly.
