Ballarat Community Art Choir

An exciting new Ballarat community choir creating opportunities for people of all abilities and cultural backgrounds to deeply connect and inspire each other through song. The choir will act as a vehicle for engaging people seeking connection and creative expression to belong to a larger group, to share their story and have their voices heard.

Repertoire will include traditional world music, gospel, blues, popular and original material generated through the stories and ideas of the choir members. Local Ballarat musicians and school composition students will also be invited to have their music sung and performed.

With the news of the Minister for Loneliness being appointed in the U.K. and more and more reports of isolation and loneliness it feels more urgent than ever that we take action to provide strong and lasting anti-loneliness measures.

There is already a vibrant community music culture in Ballarat and this choir would bring together groups such as Ballarat Community Health, Wellways, Rotary Club and U3A members as well as the broader population to join the choral community, contribute to the musical life of Ballarat through performance and make lasting connections with mentoring, goal setting and deep community engagement.
