• Facilitates the ongoing restoration of St Brigid’s Church, Hall and community precinct
• Provides a “place” for a unique Irish/Australian cultural experience for visitors
• Is actively supported and used by the local community groups
• Supports family and community events that are important for the culture of our region.
• Enhances the tourism product of the region and stimulates increased visitation to the Great South Coast region of Victoria.
• Hosts significant, Irish/Australian cultural events
• Provides a foundation of secure financial management practice
• Informs and enhances our visitors travel experience to the Great South Coast region.
In 2009 our local rural community bought the local Church and Hall to keep this precinct at the centre of our community. The transition to a Community and Cultural Heritage centre, community owned, has kept the heart of our community beating strong. The Friends of St Brigid's have successfully run a community centre and would now like to provide for the Victorian community a place for reflection on the critical role that Irish settlement played in shaping the personality of Australia by developing this Cultural Centre, in our former community Church, built with the hands of our own Irish ancestors.

The community spirit embodied by St Brigids in Crossley is incredibly special. The local community who’ve banded together to save this piece of history have turned it into an amazing cultural precinct to foster not only positive cultural experiences, but also an incredible sense of social connectedness and wellbeing. It’s so great to see St Brigids thriving and growing the way it is, but am also conscious that it’s a continual uphill battle for the community to keep this precinct ticking over. It would be great to see the state government invest in the development of an Irish cultural precinct in the HEART of the area where many of the original Irish immigrants settled. If anyone can do it, the Friends of st Brigids can - wishing you all the best of Irish luck!
Brilliant!!!
Fantastic project, all the best and keep up the good work.
This is already a place of significant local 19th and 20th century history. The site's importance to the cultural heritage of the Irish descendants of the district is very great, and the precinct has the potential to be a real focus for the ongoing life of our community into the new century, and indeed beyond.
A very important cultural centre for the sth west. Many local families with long history of connection to the Crossley area. A wonderful meeting place supported proudly by local families and communities. Good luck St Bridget's. Best wishes Allie O'Shannessy
Best wishes to all the hard working community of St Brigid’s. You’ve got my vote.
This is not just a local project but belongs to and welcomes input and support from all over Victoria.
St Brigid’s is a great gathering place to celebrate our Irish Heritage and Culture no matter where you travel from.
amazing place , worth supporting.
This is an important cultural gathering point not just for people if the south West from where I come but also from the Australian community at large and it has already had international visitors thus further broadening cultural activities of the community.
Hi Jo! I think we may have the same ancestors, William Kucks? Wish I could vote but I live in Queensland .
