Australian Institute of Comedy's Interactive Museum Exhibition

Humour and comedy is a vital part of Australia’s history. This exhibition will showcase a selection of historic humour, comedy and laughter resources collected by comedy doyen Pete Crofts since 1964. The collection is valued at over $2 million and the aim of the Australian Institute of Comedy is to make these resources available to future generations of Australians and global visitors. By creating an impressive and inspiring display of some of the most important artefacts in our comedy history, visitors will also engaged with helping to establish the Australian Institute of Comedy in St Kilda.

This exhibition will be a magnet for local St Kilda residents, and beyond to be entertained and inspired by the world’s greatest collection of Australian humour and comedy materials. The exhibition will showcase the proposed immersive experience of being physically present in the Australian Institute of Comedy, surrounded by comedic resources. The exhibition will entertain, and demonstrate the value of humour to Australia’s future - currently comedy nets more than $55 million a year. Generating interest in the institute will help to establish it in St Kilda, which aims to be a key arts destination.
