Chinese background immigrants and their children are becoming one of the largest multicultural groups in today’s Australian society. Yet most of them are still facing difficulties in multicultural integrations. Through this competition, Melbourne Chinese-Australian Parents Association would aim to help families with a Chinese-background that have recently immigrated, develop an understanding of Australian cultures and the education system. It will present significant cultural characteristics of China and promote Chinese-Australian intercultural communication. Thus, contribute to building harmony and a multicultural community in Victoria.
It will help families understand Australian culture and social norms. By attending the competition, it will not only contribute to the cohesion of the local community, but also improve multicultural integration between Chinese and Australian families. By improving English skills and learning about Australian culture/history, families will gain knowledge and it will help them better engage with Australian society.
