Ashby have connected with Leopold Men's Shed to carry out purposeful building projects with small groups of students across all ages.
Projects may include some gardening, woodwork, stepping stone path, etc. We are open to ideas and would love to get the kids outdoors with some great male role models and get them connected with the Geelong community.
We hope that this will initiate more people from the the Geelong Community volunteering their time to form partnerships of learning with the students and staff of Ashby Primary School.
This project will promote mental well-being with a sense of purpose and community belonging being achieved by all who participate.
The members of the Leopold Men's Shed, along with the students and staff of Ashby Primary School, will form a strong partnership with a foundation of respect, purpose, trust and collaboration.
We hope that some of the projects that arise from this project will in turn be used to promote entrepreneurship skills and a sense of empathy through raising funds for future projects and charities. Therefore the students will in-turn learn the skills needed to be self reliant.
