The idea is to paint murals on the four sides of our water tower depicting the local en-danged flora and fauna which are relevant to our district which includes the recently proclaimed Barmah National Park (2010).It will be great out come for our region and attract many new visitors. When Premier Brumby proclaimed the National Park at Barmah, he promised all in attendance that tourism would be the great benefactor but this has not happened. The tower is situated on the southern entrance of the township of Nathalia opposite the Barmah.Forrest.Heritdge & Education Centre that is also home of Tourism

The benefits to our town would be an added tourism attraction to our beautiful main street. We are situated on the main East -West link across Victoria the Murray Valley Highway. The town and district lost one of its main industries (the timber industry) when the Barmah Forest was proclaimed a National Park This project would help rejuvenate our town with more people stopping to view the murals on the tower and explore the town. The viewing point would have interpretive boards to help inform visitors of all the great tourism opportunities there are available to explore.

Painting our water tower - this is a fantastic project and I'm all for it.
Our old water tower is the first thing that greets you coming into town and I've even heard visitors commenting that they remember 'Nathalia' as it has the water tower in the middle of the street. Be proud of our town.

A beautiful way to welcome tourists and visitors to our little town

Our beautiful rural town has the potential to attract the grey nomad community with plenty of camping and sight seeing. Bring in the tourist dollars

Decent idea though 4 sides probably too much 2 sides along the highway would be better but Id rather aboriginal art depicting the mighty broken creek, turtles, superb parrot

Love the idea of making our water tower a focal point that is unique to our area and something that is significant in representing our region, whether that be its flora and fauna, or the many artistic talents (musicians, artists, poets, etc) that make up a part of our township and surrounds.
A very worthy project!

Vaughans think that the painting should be monotone similar to Coonalpyn and Brim silos . This would look better if a light project was introduced further down the track and would not "age"
As far as endangered spp, thinking goanna, superb parrot, long necked turtle and koala

This is a great project. The tower is the first thing you see as you drive into Nathalia, in the centre of town and would attract people to our beautiful little town.

This is a great idea David. It will be a permanent attraction and a wonderful legacy. The positioning of the water tower in the middle of town makes this a perfect site for flora and fauna artwork.

Hi David, when I returned to Natalia for a visit on the weekend my daughter and I discussed painting the water tower as a good idea (we have just been to see Mallee silos). I was drawn to viewing Pick my project on seeing the other Natalia project that engages local youth in artistic learning, concert and displays. As you don’t say who will paint the tower I think there may be more active community involvement and outcomes from the other project, but even better if the two projects worked together

There’s so many painted silos and sides of buildings now. Maybe we could do something different to attract people to stop in our town. Places used to go for ‘big’ things until it became all too common; many were embarrassing.
I think Philippa is on the right track.

Hi David...great minds think a bit alike...the Nathalia water tower is a welcoming and special focus of our town. I think what can be special about ours is that we don't follow the others and we do go for ideas that mean we can change the images... banners (see my Rural Kids to Big Art) ; laser lighting with photographic images chosen to suit the theme..like white nights only better...so perhaps there are more advantages to keeping the canvas blank ....so good to see Western Moira Tourism in this
