Ararat West Primary School Shaded Area

All students (approximately 230) and staff would have access to the shaded area which would be utilised during recess and lunch breaks as well as during class time and learning activities. After school care and holiday programs are also held on the school grounds so students involved in these programs would also benefit. In addition, the school grounds are also used after school hours by children in the local community. It is extremely important to provide protection from the sun for the school and local community at Ararat West Primary School.

Ararat West Primary School lost all shade structures in a fire last October that destroyed over half of the school. As a SunSmart School we currently have no shade structures. Unfortunately the funding for the new building project did not include shade structures. For the health and wellbeing of students, it is vital that the school has a shaded area. This project would address a necessity for the school and allow us to cater to this need quicker than if the school had to fundraise the cost. It is so important for the children to be able to play outdoors.
