The goals of the Apollo Bay Community Bike Shed are to:
- Teach people how to fix their own bikes, and provide tools for them to do so.
- Give community members the chance to build a bike of their own from used parts.
- Recycle and reuse bicycles and bicycle parts that would otherwise end up in the tip.
- Promote bicycles as a viable mode of transport in our community (for both kids and adults).

The Apollo Bay Community Bike Shed will:
- Provide local access to a bike shop. (Currently, the closest bike shop is over an hour drive away).
- Promote healthy lifestyles by enabling people to ride bicycles.
- Give local students an additional career pathway by providing them with the knowledge and tools to learn bicycle mechanics.
- Support the local community's desire to become more sustainable. (Through the increased use of green transport as well as the recycling and reuse of materials)
- Develop partnerships with existing community organisations (Men's Shed, U3A, Apollo Bay Transition Town, Otway Health, etc...)

Great idea, the local school kids could really learn some great skills and we could reduce the number of vehicles in town by more locals doing short trips on bicycle instead of in the car, maybe even a bike sharing program could be incorporated i'm sure our community could show a lot more respect for bikes than they seem to in Melbourne

Champion proposal. Community lead, skill based, active transport. Patrick has got it going on!

This project is awesome! The community bicycle shed at CERES has helped recycle and reuse many bikes in Melbourne. Apollo Bay needs this! Our township is walkable and rideable. We need to encourage more people to ride bicycles and be able to fix and repair their bicycles.

Please reduce your emissions, ride more and vote for this project!

I'm a car-free cyclist who resides in Apollo Bay, and the buses heading out of town don't allow bicycles on them. So it's practically impossible to take my bicycles to a bike shop in Colac or Geelong. I fully support this project! And urge others to do so too ☺
