Our Pony Club & Adult Riding Club grounds needs an all weather fenced riding arena so that our junior & inexperienced riding (from 2 yo to riders in their 60's & 70's) members have a safe area to ride in while they are learning the basics of riding and also for the more difficult area of show jumping. Our clubs would like to minimize the dangers to all riders by having a fully enclosed, safe riding area. This would also help our clubs run more successful competitions as we can offer more riding areas on a safe footing.

We would hopefully increase our membership if we can offer a safe area for new riders to have instruction in which would improve their confidence. It can be quite daunting for beginner riders to start off in a 10 acre open field, a fully fenced arena would be ideal. If we had better riding facilities other horse orientated groups may be interested in using our grounds on a share basis. There is no public area in the Mitchell Shire which is suitable for different types of horse riding and we would like our club grounds to become that area.

If this project was successful it would hopefully be just the beginning of creating a wonderful horse event precinct. I envisage over time the arena, followed by something like the Avalon Horse Park which educates horses and builds rider confidence in another way. Anything to assist horse riding in Central Victoria would be tremendous and allow locals to event in Seymour rather than take the 1.5hr drive to Elmore.

Would be fantastic to have facilities for horse events rather than local clubs needing to hire Elmore Grounds.

Given that seymour is in the heart of the horse area and we do not have equestrian facilities to be able to hold significant events which in return will give back to the whole of seymour not just the equestrian world. It’s a must have assett to the community

The voting process is complicated and time-consuming. And I'm not sure my votes went to my preferred project.

Excellent idea - cant believe that there isn't an "Equestrian Park" as such in Seymour considering the large number of people involved in horses... Would be another facility that would provide a great space for riders to be able to ride and learn safely and also an opportunity to be able to use the facility for multiple events and and times throughout the year with activities. Good luck and fingers crossed

As a rural area with a large number of riders, The Equestrian Park could cater for more interests and attract more members to both the Pony Club and Adult Riding Clubs. With larger member numbers both clubs will be able to offer more activities, instruction and competition days. The present facilities are not up to the standards expected by riders looking for venues to train and compete. Development of the local riding facilities will boost other equine businesses in the area like feed stores, saddlery outlets, the pet laundromat, vet practices and the many instructors and specialist performance horse breeders, so the flow on effect adds value to many others in the district.

Funding for this all weather fenced arena would improve safety for our most vulnerable riders such as young children learning to ride and participating in Pony Club and also the older inexperienced riders that wish to join an adult riding club. It can be daunting if you are feeling nervous riding a horse of any size or a rider of any age in a large open area. Please vote for us.
