This would be a wonderful addition to a brilliant school and provide the children with more opportunities to engage with the outdoors and ideas of healthy eating, sustainability and the environment. It would also provide a beautiful and practical space to add to the school's facilities.

To make a 'Alfresco Kitchen Garden ' in the current space where there is a garden space, an ampitheatre and eating area. The project will construct a built in barbecue and sink area, alongside our current outdoor seating. There is a garden space on either side of the steps leading up to the eating area and another garden area alongside the ampitheatre. We plan to turn these garden spaces into an 'edible garden'. This year 2018, will be our school's 150th Anniversary, we plan to open this garden. It will be the focal point for all the school assemblies.
The parents of our local community are working towards the celebrations for our 150th anniversary and the garden will be the focal meeting place, a place of calm and peaceful reflection. Through the project we hope to provide a place for students to cook and learn about foods grown in the garden. It will enhance our established vegetable and fruit tree garden and chicken coop and free range eggs that we have that our families buy and our students cook with.

This initiative is so important, to assist children in understanding more about how to care and nurture plants that provide nutrition. It encourages students to get outside and take an active interest in working towards a whole school community goal. So many valuable skills and lessons for children to experience in this project.
