A “Youth Innovation Lab” in Alexandra’s main street will provide an exciting hub that attracts young people to engage in digital skill development and introduces them to industry experts and innovators to explore varied career pathways. Young people will apply their new skills in coding, robotics, 3D printing and digital animation art projects, to positively impact the local community. The Innovation Lab will be a place that promotes and develops entrepreneurship, creativity, working collaboratively within the local community and developing innovative solutions for local issues.

The Alexandra Youth Innovation Lab will provide:

Youth belonging and connectedness to community

Young people will become “Tech Ninjas” who are driving solutions via digital technology for individuals, community groups and society

Youth entrepreneurship, creating pathways and supporting our young people to remain in the community

Community education to enhance the knowledge of how digital technology is influencing the future world of work for our young people and cybersafe practices

Mentoring/study groups in mathematics, engineering and science will bring community members with skill sets to the “Lab” to support co-creating the vision and possibility

I particularly like the idea of the connectedness to community, and using their skills to assist various community groups.
