Alexandra Share Shed is a place where community members can borrow items they need once in a while. This could be kitchen appliances, camping equipment, garden tools or party supplies. It is a great solution to try an item out or if you need an item for a short period of time but can’t justify the expense of buying it or storing it afterwards. The Alexandra Share Shed will promote a sharing economy in the community and provide an option for conscious consumption of stuff. Maintenance of items will be via a team of volunteers from the local Repair Café.

The Share Shed will increase community connectedness. When people share, trust is built. When people come to borrow or return items, they will forge new connections and friendships, expanding their social networks.

Share Shed members will spend less buying new items yet will still have access to things they need or want to try out. The Share Shed will become a valuable community resource much like other existing libraries that loan books or toys.

The Share Shed is good for the environment as less waste will be generated. It promotes a positive message to the community about consumerism and consumption.
