Three day training program centered on providing first job skills to local high school students in a real life cafe to assist in skill development focusing on jobs they will be seeking to engage in as 'first job' experiences.
The free training is offered to inner west high school students, aged 16-17, to gain experience in Barista skills, waitressing, cash handling and customer service. Helping them to obtain 'real life' skills in a supported environment. In addition the trainees will be provided with cover letter and resume development. The aim of this program is to provide a helping hand.
This project provides a holiday activity for an age group not usually catered for. Ahead of the Pack isn't just about keeping youth occupied, it is aimed at providing an activity (free of charge) that has a tangible outcome to help teenagers access employment and gain a level of independence.
It benefits the community by providing an activity for an under catered age group, free of charge and assists in building employment in youth groups within the inner west.
This be offered over full year of holidays, with 2 groups training in each holiday cluster. 8 sessions over the year.
