Eltham North is 20 km north of Melbourne CBD and is famous for its artist community and green lush parks. Local kids would benefit from science classes taught through an artist perspective. Currently, we have no local electronic classes available to primary aged kids. My idea is to create an after school e-sewing class for upper primary kids located at a local school. The kids will design & build set projects or design their own. Examples are super hero masks, flashing pencil cases and clothing with wearable electronics. This project will need sewing/electronics equipment and 2 skilled educators.

Electronic sewing classes will encourage kids to learn about science in a creative and fun environment. This e-sewing class will teach local kids important skills in:
- sewing & electronics theory
- practical hands on experience
- critical thinking & solving unique problems
- breaking down gender stereotypes in science & arts

What a fantastic way to encourage creativity and lateral thinking! Even for us parents, who wouldn't else love to learn/relearn and age old skill? While kids would be gaining a life skill, a class like this would also promote science and the arts in everyday life. Love this concept so much. Best of luck Karen!
