The program consists of a series of workshops where kids, teens, adults and older adults of North Melbourne will learn different expressions of the vibrant Afro-Latin Culture.
Throughout 10 weeks, participants will learn dance choreography, songs, recipes and crafts that will be showcased at an Afro-Latin Carnival for the entire community to celebrate HARMONY DAY. We will invite local schools, community groups and families to participate of the workshops and the Carnival.
Different generations will come together to perform, create decorations, costumes and food for the day. The festival will be created by the community for the community.
I firmly believe that vibrant and diverse arts and cultural activities are an important contribution to the liveliness and vitality of a community.
This program invites all members of the community to participate and interact together to contribute to a happier, healthier and more connected North Melbourne community.
It is a pathway to communicate and reinforce the importance of using the power of arts and culture to inspire a sense of community and belonging and promote collaboration, inclusion, participation, diversity, enjoyment and authenticity.
An opportunity for inter-generational and multicultural connection, respect and tolerance among neighbors.
