Longford Tennis Club is one of the largest clubs in the Wellington Tennis Association (by active teams, not qty of courts). We would like to be able to continue to grow, however to do this we desperately need additional courts. With 7 junior teams and only two courts we are constantly having to use away courts for home games. Our twilight competition is currently capped at 9 teams due to the lack of courts and last year we had to turn many players away as we could not accommodate them. We are a strong community club in need of assistance.
In a time where many sporting clubs are struggling to survive, the community culture in Longford is seeing our club thrive. The tennis courts and surrounding precinct offer a central meeting place for the community that is quite spread out and can struggle to maintain community engagement. Having a strong club with great community engagement fills a void in this community. Other than our direct members, the local community access the courts for casual use as a cost free form of activity. Being a relatively low socio economic region, the ability to access free family friendly entertainment is scares.

Longford is a thriving community with new estates popping up and the population steadily growing. With only 2 courts currently available to the Longford Tennis Club, we are finding families have to travel all over Gippsland to play pennant tennis. The junior kids, who are yet to start pennant competition, are of a large number and once they start to play in a couple of years it would be fantastic to be able to host home games and accommodate the growth. There is a ladies competition that also runs during the week and also a very popular twilight competition with large numbers in both. Tennis coaching takes place every night of the week before and after school and with a numerous amount of coaches the 2 courts are just not sufficient enough. This would be such a positive asset to the community as casual tennis players and families often head down to the courts to have a hit of tennis and have a bbq whilst the younger kids have a play on the awesome playground which is situated within the vicinity of the tennis courts and cricket club.
Such a wonderful, thriving community! An additional two courts would be an asset to all those, current & new players!
The Longford community is a growing community with many young families moving to Longford. I have been a tennis club member for over 15 years, where I have seen the need for more courts to meet the community's needs. We need to encourage our community members, young and old, to remain active and keep the love for outdoor sports alive. Building 2 more tennis courts in our wonderful community will help provide this.
Longford is a growing community, two more tennis courts would be a great asset as the two courts we already have are always in use with social and pennant players.
2 additional courts would make the twilight comp a more social event.
Two more
Courts at Longford Tennis
Club would be brilliant, especially
For during pennant season.
We have a great club but we desperately needs some more courts.
This wonderful family & community orientated club has outgrown the current facilities. With only 2 courts a large numver of players never have the opportunity to play 'home games' during pennant season. Social comp nights are extremely resticted with the availability of just 2 courts.

The existing two courts are heavily used by many social and pennant players and for coaching/training sessions.
Additional courts would be very beneficial to the club and enable the growing community to benefit in this team sport which assists with individual fitness and provides valued community and social networking.
