A shared path 1.5km long and 2.5m wide surrounding the Recreation Reserve including Strathmerton Golf Course, from locally sourced granitic sand, will provide a safe and attractive place for the whole community to maintain an active healthy lifestyle. Benefits will include an accessible training opportunity for sporting groups, and an area for mums to walk with strollers and young children, relax and relieve stress, and for older locals to stay physically active, away from possible conflicts with heavy vehicles on main roads. Re-vegetation around the path will provide multiple benefits: habitat for koalas, gliders and birds, aesthetics and climate.

Visitors and tourists, CFA fire running, football, netball, tennis, bowls, golf, lions, local families, primary schools, kindergarten, individuals, local businesses and couples would benefit from a pleasant, peaceful and safe place to exercise in informal landscaped surroundings.
The local wildlife would benefit from enhancements to habitat associated with the project.
The indigenous plant selections could provide inspiration to others in the community looking to plant local species to conserve water and provide habitat. It could also serve to strengthen cultural unity. The path would also provide a good starting point for a future rail trail to Cobram.

On the map there are 2 Numurkah Roads. Surely one is Mywee Road?
Having a safe place to meet and chat with other community members while walking on a made path will be a great benefit. Highway traffic and its noise and smell are not conducive to walking along that route to the shops, as is the lack of a footpath.

Good catch! Sorry, the map is out of our control. It should actually be Goulburn Valley Highway.
