To ensure a range of small and large communities had the opportunity to be part of Pick My Project, no more than 50 per cent of a regional partnership areas funding was awarded to one local government area (LGA). As a result this project was unsuccessful.

Active Geelong is on a mission to make Geelong Australia's most active city and we want everyone to be part of the 'movement movement'!
To engage with the whole community we want to build an innovative, interactive and leading-edge online platform that will become a one-stop shop for information and access to physical activity.
It will integrate with fitness trackers and support local residents to open a health account where they can 'deposit' steps and physical activity.
Doctors will be able to access the 'activity navigator' to help better understand and prescribe physical activity.

Research shows that 37% of Geelong residents don't meet physical activity guidelines. Participation in regular physical activity can help prevent a range of chronic disease including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, depression and anxiety and dementia.
Our aim is to support 15,000 more locals to be more active by 2020 by understanding and breaking through barriers to participation. This project will be inclusive and embrace the whole community.
The Active Geelong online platform will support and empower everyone to be more active and keep active, increasing our sense of community through a shared goal of increasing physical activity.

Hi Flayes, physical activity at every age is important. Our ageing community will be included as the Active Geelong initiatives develop and we'll be looking for input from the whole community on how we best do it.
