The aim is to create an Aboriginal art trail at selected sites west of the Goulburn River in Tatura, Toolamba and Murchison. Three Aboriginal contemporary artworks are to be commissioned and installed, one at each wetland site, highlighting the importance of wetlands for existing plant, bird and animal life and for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities. Sculptural works and wetlands settings will provide unique recreational and cultural destination through interpretation, connect small towns through existing and proposed walking, riding trails and facilitate growing interest in cultural and recreational tourism for local residents and regional visitors.
The Aboriginal Art Trail will benefit the community by providing greater appreciation of cultural and environmental significance of wetlands linked to the Goulburn River and woodland plains. Selected locations for artworks include the Murchison Rail Trail to Doctor's Swamp, Cussen Park in Tatura and Daunt's Bend in Toolamba, with each site being a unique destination yet connected to others. The project will stimulate greater use of existing walking and riding trails, link local communities and promote recreational tourism in and beyond Shepparton. It will also draw upon increasing cultural visitation to our region and the new Shepparton Art Museum.

I think this is an amazing idea which would benefit the local and Victorian community enormously. I think it would encourage people to explore and learn about areas they otherwise would not be inspired to.
