A Town Exposed

The editable, free-to-download, interactive App will provide entertaining information for guided walking, cycling and vehicle tours of the town and environs using text, photographs and audio and video recordings developed by local residents.

The multi-media App will include:

• personal, anecdotal, interpreted and ‘official’ histories – both past and contemporary;

• stories, information and directions to points of interest and popular visitor sites;

• activities and history surrounding Briagolong’s creative arts environment.

Coded posts at various sites encourage interactivity of the App user – great value to both locals and visitors. The App design will permit ready and easy up-dating.

The lasting benefits of the project include:

• Promoting pride and unity through collaboration in a cross-demographic ‘town’ project;

• Promoting inclusion and worth of residents, especially the elderly, through interviews (oral histories), gathering photographs, recording information and shooting videos;

• Promoting a sense-of-place through an easy-to-get-at, digestible exposure of the town’s historical and cultural context;

• Improving accessibility to a broader audience of the Briagolong archives;

• Enhancing visitor experience through cultural tourism so potentially growing tourist numbers and the local economy;

• Assisting other towns/communities to create their own App.
