Our grounds have been open 24/7 for 40 years, providing a safe space for the community.

Pick our project so we can make our premises safer and more welcoming by:

- Building a covered space where people can gather while still surrounded by nature. We will build a rotunda.
- Replace our increasingly unsafe 40-year-old shade pergola that surrounds our paediatric audiology clinic and community kindergarten.
- Create an all-abilities pedestrian pathway alongside the carpark for safer access to our public facilities
- Rebuild our 25-year old wooden fence along Blackburn Road.

For over 40 years, Taralye’s grounds have been a community space enjoyed by over 10,000 children and families annually.

There is a natural sound and space barrier between Blackburn Rd and Taralye. The grounds are open to the public and regularly accessed by families of hearing-impaired children, patients attending our hearing health care services, attendees to our regular community events, and clubs including Lions, Rotary, Freemasons.

Creating safe. inclusive spaces for families and the public to meet, socialise, and support one another is essential to healthy communities. Pick our project to create and make our public facilities safe for everyone.

When families first visit Taralye, they are sometimes feeling rather apprehensive and vulnerable. This wonderful project will help families recognise straight off that they are entering a welcoming and kindly space where they will be well cared for.

Wonderful idea. Taralye has been serving the families of deaf children for 50 years. The buildings and grounds need continual maintenance and sometimes renewal to keep them safe and welcoming.

Taralye has provided the best start to education for my hearing impaired children through the dedicated staff and educational programs. It would be great for this project to be funded so local and hearing impaired children could also continue to benefit from such a wonderful place for many years to come.

I love this idea! My kids both went to Taralye and are now doing very well in high school. We've also just attended the Market Day and it was a fun event for everyone, as always. Taralye's a great part of the community.

What a fantastic initiative - Taralye would be the ideal recipient for this project. My daughter attends kinder there and loves it! Such a valuable asset within the City of Whitehorse.
