A joint initiative between North Ringwood Playgroup, 1st Maroondah Scouts and council. A safe community space: * Replace old heaters and fans (with sharp corners) in hall where children play * Upgrade lighting * Emergency exit bars on doors * Replace existing fill (which contains glass) in play area with clean fill and lawn * Seal holes to stop rodent access * Complete hazmat register A sustainable community space: * Replace draughty louvre windows * Add solar to the building * Put outside lighting on timers to avoid wasting electricity * Fix water pump to allow usage of collected tank-water

Local groups need a safe and sustainable space to meet. Groups currently utilising the hall are non-denominational and welcome all members of the community. Signage showing when different groups meet is clearly displayed outside the hall which is currently used by over 200 youth and 100 families 5-7 days a week morning and evening.

Community groups that connect people around common interests have been shown to have long term physical and mental health benefits and provide a place to develop practical life skills for all ages.

Improving the building is community building for greater social connection and resident well-being.

This is a very valuable community space, from playgroups to Scouts, it will benefit a wide community and is in great need of an upgrade.

My son Jason has been here in the Scouts for 3 years. Form a Joey to a Cub, we can not only see his excitement with all the leaders and kids, but also his individual progress. The more we get involved, the better we will be. Thanks for all the leaders here in 1ST Maroondah and better condition will benefit everyone!

Good luck with the votes. A invaluable service to support preschool children and families through the playschool scheme.

This scout group and hall has been a part of my family life for 12 years. My children have gained so much from being a part of this Scout Group and are still very much involved. The upgrade will make the a huge differnce to the families who currently use the hall and the families who will use the hall into the future.

I've been involved in the Scout Group that operates from this Hall for over 11 years. It is a thriving group that provides outdoor adventures, leadership opportunities, and life skills for young people in the local area. The upgrade will make a huge difference to the enjoyment and safety of the hundreds of local families who are involved in both Scouting and playgroup in this Hall.

So important for preschoolers, babies, pregnant woman and other carers to have a safe place to socialise and play.

I took my daughter and son to this playgroup and now my grandchildren attend. It's condition has not been updated for those thirty years despite being an important community centre. It is past time for some renewal.

Our busy Scout hall is well deserving of a State Government grant.
Dedicated volunteers and various age groups of Maroondah's youth make this community a vibrant place to be part of.

I would like serious consideration given to the installation of hydronic heating. Whilst being a wonderful heat it is also very safe and inexpensive to run. The continued maintenance of local facilities is imperative to ensure a healthy, happy and enthusiastic community.
