My son is in the mentor program as a young coach.... he enjoyed coaching so much. Loves his team of boys and girls he learnt so much from his young happy enthusiastic group.

The Mentor Program guides older children, teenagers and young adults in developing skills as mentors via both group settings & individual partnerships. Using the vehicle of community passion for sport, pre-teens, teens & younger adults are mentored by senior coaches in learning the skills to guide a younger team, with training & continued support of all senior coaches, mentors & mentees in a structured way. Individuals in need of one on one support are paired with a older teen/young adult mentor to support them in the every day challenges of life.
The clubs involved in this program gain coaches who are taught how to coach, in line with club philosophies, decreasing the reliance on parental volunteers and conflict resolution in having to dealing with volunteers who stray from club philosophies.
Senior coaches are rewarded by giving back to the community and role modelling reputable skills in both coaching football and guiding their mentees in aspects of leadership and everyday life.
Our young people (either as mentors or mentees) receive opportunities for personal growth, community connection, leadership skills and learning via doing in real settings.

Our team had 2 of these mentors and they are great boys, giving up their time and energy. Not only did the kids benefit from them, it supported Coach and helped these young leaders develop their leadership skills. Win/win all around.
