A marvellous suggestion - not only exposing people to the works of the garden, but providing a sheltered space for various activities and, with the addition of a labyrinth, there would be, hopefully, another quiet contemplative place for people to come and meditate.

'New life for the Warrnambool Community Garden Quarry' will transform our old quarry into an amphitheatre with a rainforest gully walk and native plants. A contemplation space that will also hold regular community events, markets, music and performances. Access is through a fascinating community garden that has workshop spaces, a chook hilton, and native food garden among its many delights. It will be open to the public five days a week and during events. People can marvel at the ancient geology of the quarry wall that was the seabed of the Warrnambool coast - now 1.4 kms away.
Warrnambool and regional communities will enjoy even more at the community garden, including the breathtaking views from the ridge of the amphitheatre and rainforest gully track. This is a unique, sheltered, central public space where people can enjoy outdoor activities and events in a dynamic and beautiful community garden. It hosts a range of features and activities that build community connections and health and wellbeing. Spending time in nature, learning about seasonal local produce, listening to music in a relaxed and protected setting, are all part of the 'New Life for the Community Garden Quarry' project.

Thanks Jane.
Jans not Jane...autospell is a nuisance sometimes.
THANK YOU STOCKY for all your tireless physical efforts to clear the old quarry in readiness for its new 'incarnation' -whatever our little 'community' decide. Thanks also to the committee for their vision and drive!! Wouldn't it be fantastic for a regional project to 'trump' our big city cousins!!!
Thanks meg61...yes would be good to win the vote. And yes Stocky has done some great preparatory work.
An asset to life in Warrnambool.
Thanks Eileen
This would be a wonderful use of a disused quarry and a valuable community asset. Well done.

Thanks Gabrielle, appreciate your support.
Wow imagine how great it would be to have this old quarry come to life in Warrnambool. The plan is on the community garden FB page for those interested in more detail.
A great project to support
Thanks Kevin

Good luck
Thanks Maggie, appreciate your support
As part of the contemplative space I would like to see a Labyrinth included to facilitate a space for walking meditation.
There is a network of Labyrinths around Australia there is a lovely one in the Dunkeld gardens. By including one here it would serve Warrnambool people but also be enjoyed by visitors with this interest from around Australia and perhaps overseas visitors as well.
Hi Joanne the good news is we do have a labyrinth in the plan, near the quarry viewing platform. Thanks for your support. Geoff.
Joanne have a look at the plan on the community garden FB page - you may be the same Joanne that suggested it initially when we were in planning stage and lots of people then thought it was a great idea and it was included in the Landscape Architect plans.
A fantastic project, so we're calling out to all our friends and others in the wider community to support this. Thanks in advance for your vote and for spreading the word via Facebook and personally with others...you'll enjoy a unique experience if it receives the necessary support.
