We want to build a community garden which specialises in helping people learn new skills, grow healthy food and meet other like-minded locals. Partnering with urban agricultural charity, 3000acres, and disability support charity, TEAM, and other local groups, we will build a place where everyone feels welcome. Focussing on partnering with as many organisations as possible, and running frequent workshops, we will provide a range of training and learning session opportunities for the community. We will grow a range of crops including fruit trees and crops which migrants to Australia might struggle to find in the grocery store.

This community garden will provide a vibrant place for community groups and locals to come together and learn. A formerly vacant block will be transformed into a place of learning and sharing. As more and more people face food insecurity, and lack the skills to grow their own food, we will make accessing local, healthy food free and easy. Critically, this space will work to link-in all local community groups to engage as many vulnerable people as possible. The garden will also provide the space to deliver training and community events for years to come.

After seeing the joy my Mum gets from her community garden in Brunswick I think this is a great idea.
