Our Scout Hall has fallen into disrepair and is no longer safe for the community to use. Perfectly located on the edge of Sherbrooke Forest, we want to restore our hall back to a functional space, so current and future local kids can enjoy the adventure of scouting.
We need to ensure the Hall complies with building regulations and is safe for both scouts and the community to use. To do this we need to remove two dangerous trees, asbestos, replace roof and rewire. We cannot use our hall until we do this and it currently lies vacant.
The 1st Kallista Scout Group has been a proud part of the hills community for over 95 years; we have a long history of community service.
Scouts develops children’s skills in self-reliance, leadership, integrity and resourcefulness. These traits are cultivated through outdoor activities and engagement with varied groups within the community.
Research shows that scouts have less mental-health issues and have a heightened sense of connectedness and well-being.
Once restored, our scout hall will be available for a multitude of community uses, including the proud home of the 1st Kallista Scout Group.

I support this proposal
This is an excellent project and will be so beneficial to the well being and safety of the so many children and adults associated with the use of the hall - a project worthy of support.
The kids in the area will really benefit from this project. Better than screens...
Great idea, its lovely to see support and organsiation behind Damian and others who have worked solidly for so long to get Kallista Scouts a useable home once again!!

Surely the least we can do is provide some financial support. The rest is taken up by willing, passionate locals, committing their time and expertise to the cause. The value to the community far outweighs the money provided.
We must maintain any semblance of community connection, for the well being of all.
