Mental Health education in Latrobe Valley secondary schools completes project
Mental Health education in Latrobe Valley secondary schools completed its project in December 2019.
The project provided accredited mental health first aid training for over 700 teenagers and 150 adults at schools in the Latrobe Valley. The training increased the adolescents' knowledge and confidence in how to assist someone struggling with mental health or experiencing a mental health crisis. Staff and parents reported they had a better understanding of adolescent mental health problems. Schools also reported an increase in students seeking help for mental health issues, with one school seeing an additional 27 students in one week.
